Mission

Dancing Sun’s mission is to promote high-quality and contemporary dance performaces that celebrate and fuse traditional Chinese and Taiwanese dance with American modern dance. It strives to honor the diversity of the Silicon Valley community offering its audiences a rich performing arts experience that mirrors and challenges the community at large. It believes that by gaining a better understanding of our cultural differences and similarities, the myriad individuals within the community can gain more empathy, enjoyment, and strength.

An original production featuring Taiwanese folk dance, traditional Attayal aboriginal tribe dance, and modern dance with Taiko.

2006: Solace - my dear, don’t be afraid, you are home now
A three-part dance rooted in a combination of the choreographer’s personal experiences with migration and the emotions that followed the anniversary of 9/11.

2005: Nakashi to the Ocean Beach
A new and original production inspired by Asian folklore of a bygone era.
